-J. M. Mohr, PhD
The story of the Legion revealed itself through over twenty-five years of investigative work with the cooperation and support of hundreds of people – too many to mention here. I wish to express my deepest appreciation for the friendship and advice of scholars, legionnaire families, Czech-American and Slovak-American community associations, and to research institutions throughout the United States and Europe. A special acknowledgement goes to the staffs of the European Division of the Library of Congress, the Czech and Slovak Genealogical Society Society, the Hoover Institute, Czech State Military Archives, the Immigration History Research Center, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, Czech and Slovak Embassies, the University of Pittsburgh, and to Madeleine Albright for sharing her family interest. To all others who helped along the way, I thank you and hope our association continues.
